Music consultant Ilkka “Danny” Lipsanen visited MTV’s Posse show on Friday night.
The musician promoting his upcoming party tour sat down with Viivi Pumpanen and Jaakko Saariluoman for an interview right after the program starts. Saariluoma asked Danny how he feels about the upcoming set of 19 concerts.
– There are indeed 29 of them, but otherwise quite good, Iso-D is starving.
The discussion will be about the early stages of a music advisor’s career and bringing a new kind of music culture to Finland. In the end, the talk turns to how Danny has refrained from drinking too much during his music career.
The artist has a simple answer to this. Danny is allergic to tannins in wine.
– When I was even younger, I was at our mansion and drank red wine. I became excruciatingly painful. After that, a friend of mine told me to have a tannin analysis.
Danny sent blood samples to England, which revealed that he was suffering from a tannin allergy.
– But thank God I can drink grain products, the man laughs.
Alko’s website it is said that wine can give oneself an unreasonable headache even in relation to the amount consumed. Wine tannins and sulfates have been suspected as the cause.
According to Alko, researchers are of the opinion that wine headaches are often psychological and caused by a severe hangover. The headache is said to be triggered the next time the person suffering from the symptoms drinks the same wine.
So it is debatable whether tannin allergy actually exists. Instead, allergy symptoms can be caused by certain proteins in the skins of grapes. They can even cause anaphylaxis, i.e. a severe and sudden reaction that can be life-threatening.
In rare cases, it is also possible that a person with allergy symptoms would suffer from an alcohol allergy.
