According to American media, Phillips supported her husband during the trial. Masterson, best known for the series That ’70s Show, was previously found guilty of two charges of rape. The 47-year-old actor is said to have drugged and sexually abused them in his Hollywood home between 2001 and 2003.
Masterson is appealing his conviction and sentence. The actor is said to have gotten away with the alleged rape through support from Scientology, the church he follows and of which the women who say he raped them were also previously members. Scientology is said to have opposed them at the time of the rapes, which is why they only reported the rape years later.
Last year the case was declared a mistrial because the jurors could not reach an agreement. Prosecutors then started a new case.
