It has now been two and a half months since Yvonne Coldeweijer first reported on alleged misconduct by Danny de Munk. Two weeks ago it was announced through John van den Heuvel that a woman has reported rape by the folk singer. Danny himself denies that he has committed any criminal offences.

Cheating on me

Now Danny breaks the silence. He gave a major interview to RTL Boulevard and that will be broadcast on television tonight. The program has already placed a fragment of a good minute online (see below) in which the folk singer is very emotional.

Danny admits something has happened, but he seems to be throwing it at cheating. “Do you know what it is? It is indeed an old corpse from the closet. I told Jenny, Jenny knows all about me, but that you should tell your son and your daughter…”

“Stop man!”

Interviewer Lex Uiting: “Because they didn’t know that daddy was cheating?”

Danny: “No, of course not. No dude, stop it man. That your son with tears in his eyes says: ‘Daddy!’ Yes, hey, you really want to… Don’t do that to your worst enemy. And I count that so heavily on them.”

‘I’m exhausted!’

Pointing to his head: “I’m really broken here. Really broken. My character has been destroyed. I have to think about every word. But hey, what the fuck man, I think it’s ten times worse for my family. Ten times worse.”

He concludes: “I pulled them into it because of my adultery of fifteen years ago, an old corpse from the closet, I’ll just call it. I have apologized a thousand times. Finished.”
