Daniel Hartwich will no longer moderate the RTL jungle camp. “The reason for this is my family, who will no longer be able to accompany me in the future because of compulsory schooling,” said the 43-year-old on Tuesday, according to the RTL announcement.
The 15th season of “I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here!”, which has just ended, was his last. BILD reported first.
Hartwich has been the moderator of the reality show together with Sonja Zietlow since 2013. At that time he had succeeded the deceased comedian Dirk Back. “It has been my pleasure and honor to work with such talented television creators,” Hartwich said. “I look forward to enjoying the show as a home viewer next year.”
Co-moderator Zietlow said according to RTL: “I can absolutely understand his decision, even if I personally think it’s a shame. In the last nine years we have experienced and lived through a lot together. We laughed a lot and experienced and created unique moments. That will always be part of my life.”

RTL entertainment boss Markus Küttner added: “We are happy to continue to have him on air as a moderator of “Let’s Dance” and other RTL shows. And we are already talking about new joint projects. Daniel Hartwich will remain an important part of RTL entertainment. As far as his successor in the jungle is concerned, we have already had initial, very good talks.”
RTL did not name a name, the successor would be announced “in good time”. The BILD report said that comedian Chris Tall was being traded as Hartwich’s successor.
