Daniel Harmzen leaves immediately with the korfball players of Groen Geel. The trainer, who had already indicated that he would leave after this season, could no longer muster the energy and motivation for the final phase of the season. “I think it’s important that everyone is on the same page.”
“Sometimes it is better to choose a different form that is better for both parties,” says Harmzen NH Sports. “We are entering an important phase and I think that a number of extra steps should be taken in order to perform optimally. That motivation and extra energy is currently lacking with me.”
Time and energy
The decision to stop had been on Harmzen’s mind for some time, who recently had a third child and is also devoting a lot of time and attention to it. “It has been in my head for a while. At first it is at the end of the season. In the weeks that followed, that feeling does not change much. You have to be able to make such a decision rationally.”
Two weeks ago it was already announced that Harmzen would stop at the korfball players from Wormer at the end of the season. He exchanges the club for TOP from Sassenheim, with which he has become national champion several times. “It was clear to myself that I would one day do something there. I held that off a number of times and now I thought it was a good moment. And I also saw too little perspective in Wormer.”
The rest of the staff will remain in place for the time being. It is still unclear who will finish the season as an interim trainer at Groen Geel, which is currently in penultimate place in the Korfball League.
