Brazilian football player Daniel Alves, who was accused of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in Barcelona, Spain, was sentenced to prison.
The 40-year-old Brazilian, who was tried in Spain, was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison and to pay 150 thousand euros in compensation. On the other hand, Alves was sentenced to probation for 5 years after 4.5 years.
According to the final decision of the 21st Section of the Barcelona Provincial Court, announced on Thursday, February 22, it was decided that the football player committed this crime at the Sutton nightclub on the night of December 30, 2022.
According to the decision taken; The section 21 court considered that there were elements of evidence in addition to the complainant’s statement to understand that the victim’s lack of consent was accepted and rape was proven. For this reason, he sentenced Dani Alves to 4 years and 6 months in prison, 5 years of supervised release, and the victim to 9 years and 6 months of isolation and solitary confinement, as well as 150 thousand euros in compensation and payment of expenses.
