Tennis professional Daniel Altmaier missed the round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Lyon.
The 23-year-old from Kempen lost to the Argentinian Federico Coria 3: 6, 6: 3, 3: 6 despite courageous efforts and is going to the French Open without fresh self-confidence.
Altmaier defended himself against Coria for a long time and was already leading 2-0 in the third round, but was unable to add in the decisive phase.
With his consistent performance, the current German number two had recently climbed to 54th place in the world rankings – the best placement so far for the Paris round of 16 in 2020.
