Dani Alves leaves the club again

He came when the club was in a serious crisis. With him, the Catalans were still runners-up. Now Dani Alves’ mission in Barcelona seems to be over for good.

Brazilian right-back Dani Alves will no longer play for FC Barcelona. The football professional, who returned in winter, announced his farewell via Instagram on Wednesday.

There Alves wrote: “I would also like to thank all the staff for giving me the opportunity to come back to this club and be able to wear this wonderful shirt again.”

And further: “You don’t know how happy I am. I hope that you won’t miss my crazy nature and my daily happiness.”

The 39-year-old has made 408 appearances for the Spanish club, winning the Champions League three times.

Alves was without a club before his return, having previously had his contract with FC Sao Paulo terminated in September last year. Barcelona got the oldie back and, after falling in ninth place, still made it to the vice-championship. The former Brazil international also played for Juventus Turin and Paris Saint-Germain.

It is still unclear at which club the 125-time Brazilian international will continue. His declared goal is participation in the World Cup in Qatar in the winter.
