Sauna sausage is a delicacy known to many, at least from childhood. Sausages that can be heated on the stove are enjoyed with a cold drink after swimming, but how should the sausage be prepared?
Some of the stove sausage lovers put the Unopened sausage package directly on the stove stones. The controversial habit has caused debate in social media groups for and against. Proponents of the practice assure that the plastic does not melt or taste in the sausage. Others think the way is stupid.
We asked HKScan if the sausage package can be placed directly on the stove to heat up. The answer is clear.
– It is definitely not recommended to put the link in its plastic packaging directly on the stove. The packaging is not intended for such use for food safety and fire safety reasons, says HKScan Finland’s marketing director Mikko Järvinen.
– The surface temperatures of the stoves may vary, and in electric stoves, for example, the heating elements may be very hot on the surface.
If you want to make a hot dog sausage, Järvinen recommends using sausage or hot dog bags developed for the purpose. You can also transfer the sausage to a heat-resistant metal container or use the stove pan placed above the stove. In all these methods, the sausages are taken out of their original packaging.
