“Danger of flooding and avalanches”: part of Alps is braced to ‘exceptional’ heavy precipitation

After weeks of dry and stable high-pressure weather, the weather in Western and Central Europe has completely changed. In the coming days, the north of Italy and part of the Alps expect exceptional amounts of precipitation, with more than 400 mm locally. A lot of snow falls in the mountains, but lower the risks of floods, mud flows and landslides increases sharply.
