The young dancers of CDK JR in Veldhoven have won Holland’s Got Talent. The talented dance group was ahead of nine other candidates in the final, which was broadcast on RTL4 on Friday evening. Among them three participants from Brabant.
The Veldhoven dance group consists of thirteen girls and two boys. They are between 13 and 17 years old and have known each other for about four years. With the profit they became no less than 50,000 euros richer.
CDK JR was the first to perform and immediately put on a huge show. The jury reacted upside down and with a standing ovation: “Everything is right. The creativity, the choreography, the music, the dance. This is not normal.”
The group and its accompaniment naturally went crazy when it was announced later in the evening that they had finished in the last three. Then they had to wait for the verdict of the studio audience, who chose CDK JR with an overwhelming majority of votes.
It was also a big party in the home port, theater De Schalm in Veldhoven. Here the successful dancers followed the (previously recorded) broadcast on TV with numerous club members and other fans. All of Veldhoven Danst, it seemed.
After this great evening, Jadey van de Kerkhof from Eindhoven can’t believe it anymore. In 2018, the CDK JR dancer took her first European title. That was thirty years after her grandfather and PSV icon Willy van de Kerkhof won the European Cup for national champions with PSV.
The victory in Holland’s Got Talent is also a nice boost for Sergio Reis, the choreographer of the dance group.
The three other Brabant finalists were:
- LiFe Family, a group of dance school LiFe Dance in Maaskantje,
- Bart van Gijn or the blond Elvis from Uden,
- Emmelie du Puy from Sint-Michielsgestel, who impressed with her interpretations of Adele’s music and covered ‘Man in the mirror’ by Michael Jackson in the final.
The losing finalists were of course disappointed, but they may have attracted so much attention in the final battle or in previous rounds that there is still something in store for them. Bart for example, a great future in … America was predicted by jury member Chantal Janzen. Or, as another jury member, Marc-Marie Huijbregts from Tilburg, put it: “Country Bart, you are ready.”
The two judges were also impressed by the 17-year-old Emmelie: “So relaxed and uninhibited and that for someone who is only performing on stage for an audience for the third time at such a young age.”
