Russian President Vladimir Putin “outsmarted” Europe by concluding a deal to build a new gas pipeline with China, wrote British edition of the Daily Express.

We are talking about the Power of Siberia-2 pipeline. According to the Daily Express, Russia is at the final stage of negotiations with China on the construction of this gas pipeline, through which in the future the same amount of gas will be pumped to China as can be transported via the already built Nord Stream 2 to Europe. According to the newspaper’s analysts, the appearance of another gas pipeline will allow Moscow to decide who will receive Russian gas and at what price.

In addition, the newspaper’s experts believe that the growing energy crisis in Europe will force EU politicians to “yield to Moscow’s pressure” and will not allow them to “stop the Kremlin’s growing aggression against Ukraine.”

Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed the project of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline during the videoconference on December 19. The optimal route, length and other parameters of the pipeline have already been determined, and an analysis of its technical feasibility will be completed in the next few weeks, Vladimir Putin said.
