Thomas Bangalter continued after Daft Punk ended: After 20 years, the 48-year-old will release his new album in April 2023. One song can already be heard from it: “L’Accouchement” is the tenth of 23 pieces that make up the orchestral album MYTHOLOGIES.
music for ballet
Bangalter’s 90-minute work was originally commissioned by choreographer and Ballet Preljocaj founder Angelin Preljocaj for the ballet of the same name. The project premiered in Bordeaux in 2022 together with the National Opera.
The LP is not based on electronic music. Instead, according to the press release, it focuses on “the large-scale, traditional power of a symphony and as such embraces the history of orchestral ballet music.”

The split from Daft Punk
Bangalter formed the group Daft Punk with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. She announced in February 2021 that she was separating after 28 years together, and confirmed the news in a video titled Epilogue, which shows footage from her 2006 sci-fi film Electroma.
