French French house duo Daft Punk actually split up in 2021. It probably won’t be shaken, but the band apparently wants to remain present at least in social media: On Tuesday, Daft Punk set up an official TikTok channel. Fans should also have access to the duo’s music on the short video platform.
“Let’s turn back time on TikTok,” the band wrote on the platform. The accompanying 45-second video featured a snippet of the song “Contact” from their last album RANDOM ACCESS MEMORIES (2013) and featured the covers of all Daft Punk albums and clips from their music videos. The clip concludes with a banner that reads “1993-2021.”

The band has since posted a second clip celebrating the anniversary of their first album HOMEWORK in 1997. “We’re still celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Homework.’ Run with us,” the band wrote. A six-second clip featured material from the daft punk film Electroma (2006), which the band also used for their farewell clip Epilogue (2021). The HOMEWORK track “Da Funk” can also be heard.

As reported by DJ Mag, Daft Punk has also struck a deal with TikTok that will allow TikTok users to use their music in their own videos. Two new Daft Punk-themed video filters are also available: a robotic helmet, as worn by members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in performances and videos, and the dog Charles from the music video for the track ” Da Funk” from 1997.
