Dachshund Day 2023: why you should go there (even if you don’t have a Dachshund)

Collect all dachshunds! Patricia Tjepkema, owner of ‘t Dierenparadijs, has been luring all dachshunds (even from abroad) plus owners to the Zoetermeerse Dorpsstraat for ten years now. It is also a nice outing for Zoetermeerers without a dachshund: you will be amazed.

Even if you are not the owner of Dachshund Saartje or Boy, this event is more than worth a visit. While sipping a glass of wine on one of the terraces, you can just see a procession of hundreds of dachshunds passing by.

Caps jackets and beer

Dachshunds in brightly colored jackets, with caps on, in cars and on the terraces: on Saturday 6 May it will be teeming with dachshunds, in all shapes and sizes. The shopping street is filled with stalls selling animal stuff and there is a portrait photographer present. Dachshunds can taste snacks and dachshund beer and the ice cream parlor provides a tasty ice cream, especially for animals.

In the picture

In and around the Dorpsstraat you will see a procession of dogs passing by that day. There is a dachshund walk in the Village and a group photo is taken. Last year, no less than 324 dachshunds with owner were captured by a photographer: a record!

The Dutch Dachshund Day is on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
