The Mercedes Formula 1 driver finished tenth at the Jeddah circuit, good for 1 point in the world championship. “I got the most out of it, but there was nothing more I could do. It is what it is and I now know that I am quite lacking in speed,” said the Briton.

Hamilton experienced his worst qualifying since the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix on Saturday. He retired after the first session and had to start the race on Sunday from 15th place. The Briton managed to move up a few positions and was even sixth for a while, but after his only pit stop he fell back and was only in tenth place. “It wasn’t all that great, but we have to move on.”

When Hamilton realized he had finished tenth, he wasn’t even sure if he had scored any points. “Do you actually get points for that, this position?” he asked over the board radio.
