It does take some getting used to. Daan Schuurmans suddenly walks into the picture if you have just settled into the compelling story of a hunting family from prehistoric times. It is not a new feature film from Dutch soil, but a large-scale documentary series by the NTR about ‘the story of our country’. Or, as narrator Schuurmans describes it in his intro text: ‘A story with golden mountains and black pages, which show us who we are and how we have become like that.’
