Mackus does advise the parties to work on mutual relationships. The connection in the municipal council and between the council and the municipal executive must be strengthened, according to Mackus.

It is now up to the by far largest party – Weert Lokaal – to take the initiative to form the new coalition and draw up a coalition program. In the elections, Weert Lokaal retained its 12 seats. The VVD rose from 4 to 5 seats and D66 went from 1 to 2 seats.

Other parties
The big winner DUS Weert – from 3 to 6 seats – is not part of the coalition. Just like CDA, PvdA and GroenLinks. The CDA dropped from 6 to 4 seats, the PvdA remained the same with 1 seat and GroenLinks also made its debut with 1 seat.
