The goal is to eventually bring about the return of the Amsterdam Six Days. With the D6 Cycling Night, the organization hopes to make a first step. An international six-day event was organized for the last time in 2016.
The family of track cyclist Yoeri Havik took the initiative to organize another race last Friday. “I invited the riders. My father-in-law (Carlo Raaijmakers – red) did most of the work. My wife and Cees den Toom also took on a lot of work. Great,” says Havik.

Jan-Willem van Schip made his comeback on the track and was enthusiastic about the race. “It is often a snap. This is a steady race. Good, long distances in succession. Not much hassle. Just ram,” says Van Schip.
Lorena Wiebes was also present on Friday evening. On Wednesday she won the Scheldeprijs on the road, but she wanted to participate in the D6 Cycling Night. “I think it’s special that there is another competition in Amsterdam. Hopefully the Six Days of Amsterdam will return,” says Wiebes.
Three days?
The organization says it would like to organize a three-day event next year. Fifteen sponsors have already pledged to support this event next year.
