Czech Republic sends players home because of nightclub scandal

After visiting a nightclub on Saturday evening, three Czech national players were left out of the squad for the European Championship qualification by coach Jaroslav Silhavy.

Vladimir Coufal (West Ham United), Jakub Brabec (Aris Saloniki) and Jan Kuchta (Sparta Prague) had “fundamentally violated the internal rules,” the national team announced on X.

This means they will not be taking part in the final group duel on Monday evening (8:45 p.m.) against Moldova in Olomouc. Silhavy’s team needs a point to qualify for the EURO in Germany.

The newspaper “DNES” reported that the three professionals were caught in a nightclub in downtown Olomouc, where the team was playing against Moldova.

In a photo taken in the nightclub, the three can be seen together with a member of the Executive Committee of the Czech Football Association.
