Czech Republic mourns victims of university massacre: “Cultural and Christmas events adjusted or canceled” | Abroad

President Petr Pavel attended a memorial service at St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague with cabinet members and professors from Charles University, the Czech Public Broadcaster reported. The broadcaster adjusted its programming on Saturday. Cultural and Christmas events have been canceled or adjusted for the weekend. For example, at Christmas markets the music is turned down or turned off, and concerts start with a minute of silence.

A 24-year-old student from Charles University committed a massacre at the philosophy faculty in the center of the Czech capital on Thursday afternoon. He shot fourteen people dead and injured 25 people. He then took his own life.
