Colombian cyclist Ivan Sosa was attacked during training and shot by a truck driver with a pistol.
This was reported by an anonymous source of the French news agency “AFP”. The 25-year-old was training in the mountains near his hometown of Fusagasuga when the incident occurred.
The Spanish racing team Movistar confirmed the attack on its driver on Twitter. Sosa was treated with “chin injuries in a medical center”. The attacker is in police custody.
Sosa is known as a strong climber, winning the Tour of Burgos in Spain in 2018 and 2019. In 2021 he won the French Tour de La Provence.
