A woman on a bicycle was seriously injured on Tuesday evening around half past five after she was hit by a truck in Rosmalen. The accident happened near the level crossing on Vliertwijksestraat.
The victim turned off the Binckhorstpad cycle path in the direction of the A59 and was hit by the truck. The woman ended up with her leg under a wheel of the truck.
Bystanders rendered first aid. They put a tight band around the leg of the woman, who was trapped, after which the truck backed up a bit. The ambulance crew then rushed to take over medical care. The fire department set up screens.
The woman was taken to Radboudumc in Nijmegen by ambulance a short time later. A doctor from a summoned trauma helicopter accompanied her.
The police are investigating. The truck has been put a lot further back for this. That is why train traffic had to temporarily slow down between Den Bosch and Oss. Trains are now running at normal speed on that route again.
