A young boy was injured by a reckless cyclist on the Alex on Monday afternoon.

According to the police, a 29-year-old was riding a bicycle on Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse towards Alexanderstrasse at around 5:20 p.m.

The cyclist is said to have ignored the red traffic light on Dircksenstrasse and caught the seven-year-old who crossed Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse in the direction of Alexanderplatz with his mother (44).

According to the police, the boy was dragged a few meters and then fell onto the road. Alarmed rescue workers took him to a hospital for inpatient treatment with arm and leg injuries.

The cyclist was also taken to a clinic, but was able to leave it again after treatment.
