A cyclist was seriously injured on Saturday night after he or she was hit on the Heideweg in Volendam. The accident happened around 00.30 am.
A taxi driver hit the cyclist. According to an eyewitness, it was ‘thrown away’. The bicycle was found 50 meters away. All emergency services came into action. The victim was resuscitated and taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to bystanders.
The accident took place on Heideweg near Bowling and Partycentrum de Zedde. The bicycle the victim was riding ended up in the parking lot of the Partycentrum due to the accident.
The driver was arrested by the police and taken to the police station.
