A cyclist died Saturday evening after being hit by a car. That happened on the Nieuwe Maasdijk in Heusden.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. on a stretch of road where there are no streetlights. Several emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, came to the scene of the accident. The cyclist was resuscitated, but died on the spot. The driver of the car escaped unharmed.
The road is closed. Police are investigating exactly how the accident happened. The driver was taken to the police station for further investigation.
