The cyclist, an 84-year-old man from Den Helder, who was hit by a truck on Timorlaan in his hometown yesterday afternoon, died of his injuries. The accident happened at the crossing next to the Ten Anker residential care center.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died there. The truck driver, a 27-year-old man from Rijssen, Overijssel, has been questioned by the police. In any case, it is certain that he had not used alcohol or drugs.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
