A cyclist was seriously injured just after four o’clock on Friday morning in an accident on the Elsendorpseweg, the N272, in Elsendorp. The cyclist, a 15-year-old boy from Uden, was hit by a car. This was driven by a 61-year-old man from the village of Zeeland.
The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said. The motorist has been arrested as a suspect and taken away for further investigation, a police spokesperson said Friday morning. “We do not yet suspect that he was under the influence. It is not uncommon for the motorist to be arrested in the event of serious traffic accidents,” he also says.
It is not yet clear how the accident could have happened. This is being investigated by the traffic specialists of the police, among others. The road was therefore closed to traffic until half past eight.
