Cycling, Tirreno-Adriatico: third stage, wins Philipsen thanks. Ganna leader

The Dutchman hits the fly ball perfectly for his teammate. For the Belgian 25th career victory. Fourth place for Moschetti, fifth Consonni. Ganna always leader. Tomorrow Greccio-Tortoreto of 218 km

The Van der Poel star disguises himself as the last man on the train and Jasper Philipsen can’t help but finalize. On the finish line of the 216 km third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico Follonica-Foligno, the 25-year-old Belgian from Alpecin conquers his 25th career victory, the first in Italy. And he makes up for yesterday’s second place behind Jakobsen. Second place for Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorius), third place for Eritrean Biniam Girmay (Intermarchè). A stage that first experienced a four-way breakaway with Davide and Mattia Bais (Eolo-Kometa), Stefano Gandin and Alessandro Iacchi (Team Corratec), the last ones – the Bais brothers – restarted 70.5 km from the finish. Then with 10 km to go the Jumbo, taking advantage of the lateral wind, created a hole in the group – Ganna was in front – of about fifteen riders caught up a few kilometers from the finish. Positions off the podium for the Italians Matteo Moschetti (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) and Simone Consonni (Cofidis). Sixth place for the Belgian Wout Van Aert. Yesterday’s winner Fabio Jakobsen is far away. In view of tomorrow’s fourth stage, Greccio-Tortoreto of 218 km, Filippo Ganna remains the leader of the race.
