Cyclist Enzo Leijnse from Amstelveen took his first professional victory at the end of last month. The 21-year-old cyclist was the best in the fourth stage of Olympia’s Tour. “I’m a rider who doesn’t win often, because I’m always committed to the team. It’s nice to take that victory myself,” says Leijnse.
In the final he drove away from the Danish Magnus Bak Klaris. “I wasn’t sure about my sprint, because I’m not a sprinter. That’s why I attacked and I could stay away”, Leijnse looks back on his first professional victory.
“As a cyclist you can’t always win, of course. I will certainly fight for the highest place more often,” says Leijnse, who often missed the victory in his junior career. “Whether I play Formula 1 on the PlayStation or a board game, I just always want to win.”
Apartment in Limburg
The Team DSM rider was born and raised in Amstelveen, but his team has an apartment for him in Sittard. He can therefore be found there a lot during the season to train in the hilly environment. “There are a few houses there including all the facilities to train well. Everyone has their own training schedule, but we also try to train together as much as possible.”
