In the 19th edition of the Münsterland Giro, the starter field is more top -class than ever. Two Olympic champions start in everyone’s race. Here is all information about the event.

The Münsterland Giro 2025 on October 3 promises to be a race for the history books. So many World Tour teams have never announced themselves for the end of the season on German soil. At the same time, 7,500 registrations in the everyone race ensure new record numbers.

Who starts at the professional race?

Last year’s winner Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) travels with fresh self -confidence. The 27-year-old Belgian recently celebrated three stage wins at Vuelta a España, is in top shape and wants to defend his title with the strongly occupied Münsterland Giro.

For the first time, 12 teams from the highest league of international cycling, UCI Worldtour, take part in the race. The favorite group includes drivers with WorldTour victories from this year, such as Jordi Meeus and Nico Denz (Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe) or Arnaud de Lie (Lotto).

The German fans can go to the Münsterland Giro winner John Degenkolb and Max Walscheid be happy, Lennard Kämna go after Six years break again at the Giro.

7,500 starters at Everyone race

Everyone bike race is becoming increasingly popular. The organizers are happy about a new participant record this year: with around 7,500 active people at the three amateur races and 700 children, there are more registrations than ever.

Prominent participants

This year, prominent athletes from other sports will also start at the Münsterland Giro. Skeleton Olympic champion Hannah Neise and Triathlon Olympic champion Lasse Lührs start in the race over 65 km.

Six years after the end of his professional career, too Marcel Kittel in everyone’s race. He is the only professional cyclist to date to successfully defend his title at the Münsterland Giro – 13 years ago.

Where is it long?

The Münsterland Giro starts in Stromberg for the first time. From here it goes through the districts of Warendorf and Steinfurt on 191 kilometers, for the first time the Giro route leads through Greven. The goal is traditionally for professionals and hobby drivers on the Münster Schlossplatz. Unlike the professionals, the races of everyone in Münster will start this year.

What’s going on on the route?

Along the route there is again a supporting program this year, for example at the start in Stromberg, Lüdinghausen, Westbevern-Vadrup and in Greven. Experience has shown that there are a particularly large number of spectators at the sections, on which the two mountain ratings (in Stromberg) and the sprint rating (Münster patrons) take place.

2,000 helpers in action

Around 1,000 helpers will be on the road as route items to secure the race track. The municipalities also support personnel, and a further 600 helpers take care of the issue of the start numbers and the assembly and dismantling, a total of a total of 2,000 helpers are in use to ensure a smooth process.

Road closures

This year too, drivers have to adjust to road closures, diversions are signposted on all large access roads. In Münster, the Schlossplatz between Münzstraße is already closed in the course of Thursday (October 2nd). From 6 p.m. then the University Road, the Bispinghof and Johannisstrasse, on the principal market, no more parked cars may be. Large parts of the city center are tight on race day. Above all, the inner city round that the professionals drive through three times in their race.
