Cycling, Le Samyn: first win for Trentin in 2022

First acute of the season for Matteo Trentin, 10th for the UAE Team Emirates in 2022, thanks to a powerful sprint that led the blue to victory at Le Samyn. The 32-year-old took the lead alongside 7 other runners in the final 20km cobbled final circuit on a day that took the athletes from Quaregnon to Dour (209km). Trentin tried to take advantage of his good form to place some attacks in the final kilometers, but he always saw his opponents postpone. The UAE Team Emirates rider then concentrated on the sprint of the small group of leaders, going ahead of the French Hugo Hofstetter (Arkea-Samsic).

“It was a very good race for me, very hard and aggressively raced from start to finish. Our team’s intention was to avoid an epilogue in the group sprint. The attacks started early, I went out. from the platoon initially in a squad of 25 athletes which gradually reduced to a few units. Today I wanted and managed to run, rather than chase, and in the end this attitude paid off well “.
