Van Aert continued to extend his overall lead, now 53 seconds ahead of Italian Mattia Cattaneo (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) and 56 seconds over Slovenian teammate Primoz Roglic.
Steimle best German
The best German in the fight against the clock was Jannik Steimle (Weilheim an der Teck), in twelfth place the 26-year-old from the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team was exactly 100 seconds behind the two-time time trial world champion Ganna.
Hilly stage is coming up
On Thursday the drivers will face a hilly 162.5 kilometers from Thizy les Bourgs after Chaintre. The mountainous one Dauphinéwhich ends on Sunday, is used by many top drivers as a test run for the one that starts in Copenhagen on July 1st Tour de France.
