“Curious situation”: Eberl talks about Sané-Deal

Leroy Sané moves from FC Bayern to Galatasaray to Turkey on July 1st. The Munich sports director Max Eberl is now commenting on the special agreement that has been made – and also reveals details about the negotiations.
Eberl himself spoke of “a curious situation for all of us”. Sané simply “feel like it” to be part of the German football record champions at the tournament at least in the first two weeks until after a possible round of 16 and the end of the contract on June 30th.
Looking back at the negotiations with the international, Eberl emphasized that the club accepts the change in terms of sport and human. “We negotiated. Then there was the situation with the change of consultation,” he explained. Afterwards there were further discussions that “no longer adapted”. Nevertheless: “We tried to build bridges. What can solutions look like that neither he nor Bayern Munich losing his face? Leroy chose galatasary. That is his life decision.
Sané ultimately decided on the overall package from Istanbul. According to Galatasaray, he will receive a net salary of nine million euros a year and an additional loyalty bonus of three million euros per season by 2028. Eberl said soberly: “He had the choice.” Sané could “make a lot of money in Istanbul. He couldn’t have done that with us.” At the same time, the 51-year-old emphasized that Bayern had “zero resentment.”
Sané will join the team on Friday, as will Harry Kane and Konrad Laimer, who travel after their international matches. FC Bayern meets on Sunday (6:00 p.m. CEST) at the start of the club World Cup on Auckland City from New Zealand.
