Curious own goal: Cologne fits at Karlsruher SC

The “Effzeh” struggles with the KSC from the start and also has to cope with a personnel blow. The decision is made in an unfortunate way.
A very bitter defeat for the 1. FC Köln in the top group of the 2nd Bundesliga: The Rhinelander lost 0: 1 (0-0) at Karlsruher SC on matchday 24 and thus slide in third place in the table. The KSC climbed into the upper half of the table due to its second home win.
Timo Hübers (52.) decided with his own goal-it was a slapstick number: Team colleague Jusuf Gazfegović wanted to clarify a pressure situation of the Karlsruhe in front of his own goal, then hit the Hübers, which was bound immediately before him, the ball hit the goal. The ball then rolled over the line through the legs of Gazibegovic. Already in the 39th minute, Cologne’s service provider Linton Maina had to get off the pitch with an injury.
Unlike the 4: 4 in the first leg, there was no spectacle this time. The Karlsruhe started a week after their first second round victory against 1. FC Magdeburg (3: 1) and initially went very robust. However, the guests had the best chance of an eventless first half: Damian Downs failed from an acute angle to KSC keeper Max Weiß (13th).
Shortly before the break, Cologne’s offensive man Linton Maina had to be replaced. FC then no longer recovered from the own goal of his captain after the change of sides. The team of coach Gerhard Struber remained surprisingly harmless and ultimately for the third time in series without a win.
