Curaçao will introduce a curfew from 4 p.m. on Wednesday due to the threat of a tropical storm, Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas reported on Tuesday. This means that no one is allowed to show up on the street without permission from that time on.
All non-essential businesses must close by 3 p.m. Public transport runs on Wednesdays until 4 pm. All government services will be closed all day on Wednesday.
A tropical storm warning has been issued on Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire and code red applies. The storm is expected to hit the islands on Wednesday evening and will pass south of the ABC islands, according to meteorological services.
Measures are being taken on all three islands. The government of Aruba will send all officials home on Wednesday afternoon. They are free the rest of the day and Thursday. Schools are not allowed to open on Thursdays and Fridays. Hospitals on the islands are being put on standby, which means, among other things, that non-emergency operations and appointments are being moved.
