According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, Hamburg’s regional football club FC Teutonia Ottensen will play their DFB Cup home game against defending champions RB Leipzig in Dessau.
The club cannot play the game in its stadium because of the artificial turf. The second division club had rejected a move to FC St. Pauli’s Millerntor Stadium, among others, with reference to its critical attitude towards RB Leipzig.
According to “Bild”, the game in the Paul Greifzu Stadium, 375 kilometers away, is scheduled to take place in Dessau on August 30 (8:45 p.m.). The encounter will also be broadcast on free TV by “ZDF”. The stadium in Dessau has a capacity of 20,000 spectators. According to the implementation regulations of the German Football Association (DFB), an exchange of home rights is not possible. Therefore, a move to the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig is out of the question.
The reason why the game does not kick off like the other first-round matches on the last weekend in July is the Supercup game of Leipzig on July 30 against the German champions Bayern Munich.
