After the Berlin Culture Ticket comes the Federal Culture Pass for 18-year-olds. Start is June 14th.

The government announced the date on Thursday. Young people in Germany who turn 18 this year can use an app or website to buy tickets for cultural events such as cinema, concerts and theater worth 200 euros – but also books, sound carriers or musical instruments. The funding, endowed with 100 million euros, will initially apply to around 750,000 young people. One of the models for the offer is France, where there has been a culture pass for a long time.

Large online mail order companies such as Amazon, streaming services such as Netflix or music platforms such as Spotify are excluded from the culture pass.

In order to be able to use the app, you have to identify yourself using the online ID function of your ID card. For EU citizens, this can be done using the eID card and for non-EU citizens using the electronic residence permit.

Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (Greens) described the culture pass as one of the central projects of her house this year, with which cultural policy is breaking new ground. It was a signal to the young generation after the corona pandemic, when many had withdrawn due to the restrictions.
