The Community of Madrid has assured this Saturday that “can’t ban” Mundocrypto Metaverse Day event which is held that same day at the Wizink Center because they would be “appealing to illegality”.
In his assistance to the security device of the patron saint festivities of Colmenar Viejo, the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Interior of the Community of Madrid, Enrique López, has clarified before the journalists that the regional government has no powers in the ‘crypto’ event.
“Before an activity that not being regulated is not prohibited, the Community of Madrid cannot prohibit the celebration of this act. If he did, he might be doing something illegal. We are facing a rule of law and we must remember it “, she stressed.
In this sense, López has acknowledged his concern about “everything related to cryptocurrencies and everything called investment bars”, which are not controlled by financial entities with the necessary powers to do so.
“Who has the individual responsibility of controlling possible situations of illegality or related activities (…) is the Ministry of Economy, the National Securities Commission and the Bank of Spain. They are economic authorities that have to ensure the proper functioning of the market”, he stressed.

The counselor has also asked the opposition of the regional government that instead of sending letters to the Community of Madrid, specifically to the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, criticizing this event and asking for its prohibition, do it “to those who have the competence” to control it.
The event on cryptocurrencies has been in the spotlight this week after the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) recalled that the organizing company, MundoCrypto, “does not have any type of license to advise on financial instruments or intermediate investment operations on financial instruments”.
