It appears that Ukraine is gearing up for a long-awaited counter-offensive in the hotly contested city of Bachmut. Russian troops have been trying for months to take the city in eastern Ukraine, but it has not yielded much except for heavy losses. Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi – the commander of Ukraine’s ground forces – now hinted in a cryptic message on Telegram that a counter-offensive is coming “very soon”.
