D.fter the pandemic, the Houses start traveling again with their fashion shows. A trend that began at the end of last year, with the Gucci show Love Parade in Los Angeles and Bottega Veneta Salon 03 Spring Summer 2022 in Detroit, to name just two. But the most original locations, at least compared to the country of origin, have always been a prerogative of Cruise fashion shows and Resort. Here’s what awaits us for the 2023.
What are the Cruise and Resort shows?
The fashion shows that fall into these categories usually take place outside the fashion month calendar of the February and September women’s collections. The Cruise and Resort fashion shows, created to originally satisfy the fashion needs of richer customers who in winter traveled to exotic locations or went on a cruise, today they are aiming for grab the attention of top clients international with ad hoc novelties between one collection and another. They are also known as Pre Fall or Pre Spring or generically pre-collections precisely for this reason: they anticipate the main lines. And they are normally held in exceptional locations.
A strategy of big brands aimed at promoting their image too, against a huge amount economic expenditure: for this reason, during the Covid period many have renounced the Cruise shows, and some had even hypothesized their cancellation, considering them as superfluous.
