Cross posse in the children’s playground! The playground in Monbijoupark was only opened last Monday. It took two years to plan, build – and now change!
One of the playground equipment, the moated castle, was decorated with a purple cross. Some people apparently saw God’s hand in the game and probably complained to the Mitte district office.
The authorities reacted promptly and had the cross and one star unscrewed again. “Since the applications used up to now have been interpreted religiously by some citizens, we decided without further ado to have the elements replaced,” explains a spokeswoman when asked by the BZ.
Now the spiers are adorned with an orange cat and a miniature TV tower. In the future, a childish reference should be clearly understood, explains the spokeswoman. cat instead of cross.
Unbelievable: Children had wished for a cross and a star! As part of the planning process, they were able to voice their preferences. In the report on the participation process, under the children’s ideas and wishes, it says: “Castle with sparkling crosses/star on the two towers”.
There is even a picture attached. On it: a castle painted by children’s hands, a glittering cross on the towers. “Louisa” is in the top right. At the office, however, the planning part seems to have been forgotten.
Paul Fresdorf (45), who sits in the House of Representatives for the FDP, has no understanding for the district’s decision: “It’s completely outrageous. In the culture committee we just agreed that religion should be much more visible.”
