Cross-country skiing – Tour de Ski: I am surprised at the final ascent – cross-country skiing – winter sports

At the end of the Tour de Ski, the DSV cross-country skiers set a very important sign of strength: With Friedrich Moch and Lucas Bögl, two Germans showed during the difficult final ascent to Alpe Cermis that they can be reckoned with again -year-old Moch for the first podium in the German men’s cross-country team since 2015 – Tim Tscharnke succeeded in this feat, also in Val die Fiemme.

First DSV podium since 2015

Moch was 18.9 seconds behind the winner of the day, Sjur Røthe. The Norwegian left the strong competition well behind on the difficult climb. Only the Russian Denis Spitsov (+2.4 seconds) could keep up until the end.

Bolshunov and Niskanen can no longer endanger Klaebo

Fifth place in the day’s standings, 34.9 seconds behind Rothe, was enough for Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo to defend first place in the overall Tour standings. The 25-year-old Norwegian started the last stage with a reassuring lead of just under a minute, always kept control and never let anything burn.

Last year’s winner Alexander Bolshunov was second in front of the Finn Iivo Niskanen, who started an attack early on the last stage, but broke in on the steep final climb (+ 1: 00.4 minutes).
