The fact that a Norwegian won the cross-country skiing mass start over 20 kilometers in free style on Sunday was anything but a surprise. But hardly anyone expected that 27-year-old Jan Thomas Jenssen would end up at the top of the podium. However, a Swede made headlines after the race when he revealed a piquant problem.
Calle Halfvarsson, who finished 18th in the mass start 42.3 seconds behind Jenssen, had a real nightmare experience in Ruka.
Two rounds before the end of the competition, the Swede was in “hellish pain,” as he revealed to “Expressen.”
“My penis froze. Honestly. Damn, I had to lie down for ten minutes to warm it up,” Halfvarsson told the newspaper. “It hurts so damn much. It’s terrible!”
At least the three-time World Cup medalist can still look at the situation with a smile. “It’s lucky that I’m having my second child, because if I continue like this, things will be difficult in the future,” said Halfvarsson with a laugh and pointing out that this delicate mishap had not happened to him for the first time.
Sweden star actually “felt good”
Halfvarsson struggled with his performance – and that of the entire Swedish team – regardless of his physical health.
The fact that he was the 18th best Swede was “bad”. However, he actually “felt good” and thought he could fight for the win. However, the material was simply “not perfect”.
