Duos from Switzerland and Austria

Nadine Fähndrich and Anja Weber are on the road for Team Switzerland today. Sprint expert Fähndrich is not one of the top favorites in the long distance race, but can run in the top 15. For the 21-year-old Weber, it’s all about gaining experience. In Austria, hopes rest on Theresa Stadlober. The third place in the Olympics in skiathlon was recently affected by health, but is always good for a coup in distance races. Lisa Unterweger is the second Austrian to start.

Hennig can attack fully

Katharina Hennig had declared the classic race over the 30 kilometers in the run-up to the World Championships as one of her main goals. Now that the medal with the relay has already been bagged, the 26-year-old can go into the race relaxed and throw everything in. “It’s all done. The backpack is gone, I’ll go there without any pressure,” said Hennig in advance. Pia Fink, Laura Gimmler and Katherine Saubrey complete the DSV squad.

Open race expected

In the absence of Therese Johaug, who has retired, the rarely held classic over the 30 kilometers in the classic technique seems open like never before this year. Ebba Andersson from Sweden proved her class by triumphing in the skiathlon, the American Jessica Diggins won the individual in the freestyle technique. In addition to the two, the Finns Kerttu Niskanen and Krista Pärmäkoski as well as Tiril Udnes Weng from Norway and the Swede Frida Karlsson are among the favorites. The DSV hopes for Katharina Hennig.
