Gimmler and Krehl out in the semifinals
At the end, the field stretches far apart. The two Norwegians go up and away. Tiril Udnes Weng and Anne Kjersti Kalvå reach the final. All others are too slow – also for the Lucky Looser rating. Laura Gimmler (4th) and Sofie Krehl (5th) are eliminated. Over time Lotta Udnes Weng and Frida Karlsson stay in business from Heat 1. Now let’s look at the men again.
15:02
Second semi-final
Two Germans are involved in the second semi-final. Sofie Krehl and Laura Gimmler compete with Tiril Udnes Weng, Kerttu Niskanen, Kateřina Janatová and Anne Kjersti Kalvå. The DSV athletes try to tackle the matter actively. On the first lap, Weng, the woman in yellow, shows skiing skills on the descent and takes the lead.
15:00
Sure thing for ensign
Once again, Fähndrich solves the task with aplomb. After the last two sprint World Cup victories in a row, the Lucerne native once again emerged as the big favourite. Dahlqvist goes through second. Weng and Karlsson have to hope for the time. Julia Kern fell on the last descent and ended up sixth.
14:57
First semi-final
Back to the women! The first semi-final is really famous – with Nadine Fähndrich, Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist, Julia Kern and Lotta Udnes Weng. In the usual way, the Swiss is oriented to the front.
14:26
Gimmler also continues
Anne Kjersti Kalvå puts pressure on the last climb, but Gimmler holds out. Pärmäkoski is struggling to catch up, but the Finn can no longer keep up with the two in front and is eliminated, as is Brennan from the USA. Tiril Udnes Weng and Lena Quintin stay ahead of the lucky losers and thus also make it into the semi-finals. Now it’s on to the men’s quarterfinals.
14:23
Last Quarterfinals
Laura Gimmler is ready in the last heat. the fastest German in qualifying competes with Anne Kjersti Kalvå, Krista Pärmäkoski and Rosie Brennan. The DSV athlete is looking forward. This run doesn’t seem very fast either. The Lucky Looser times should not be an issue.
14:22
Krehl wins
A close race develops. Sofie Krehl is fast on the descent, has good skis, doesn’t take it anymore and runs to victory. The German takes Kerttu Niskanen with her. Third, Mathilde Myhrvold is clearly too slow for the Lucky Looser classification.
14:17
Fourth Quarterfinals
Now we are looking forward to the second best German in the prologue. Sofie Krehl has to deal with Kerttu Niskanen and Märta Rosenberg, who came third in qualifying. Second Finn in this heat is Jasmin Kähärä. And what is the biathlete Federica Sanfilippo capable of?
14:16
Now there is a weng ahead
On the last climb, the wheat separates from the chaff, a trio breaks free. Lotta Udnes Weng masters the last descent and drives to victory. Kateřina Janatová takes second place. All others are too slow. Coletta Rydzek (5th) and Anja Weber (6th) also have to give up.
14:11
Third Quarterfinals
In the third run we expect Coletta Rydzek, who will have to deal with Anja Weber. The line-up gives hope for an open race, there is no big favorite. In fact, the six starters remain close together.
14:10
Dahlqvist almost out of nowhere
Tiril Udnes Weng and Julia Kern seem to be the strongest runners. But on the finish line, Maja Dahlqvist sucks in again, pushes past both and actually still wins. Second is Kern and Weng surprisingly has to hope for the time. The Swiss Lea Fischer (Heat 1) is out of the lucky looser rating. Lisa Unterweger is eliminated in sixth place.
14:06
Second Quarterfinals
Now the woman in yellow is ready. Tiril Udnes Weng is one of Lisa Unterweger’s opponents. USA’s Julia Kern is another strong opponent. And what about Maja Dahlqvist’s form? The three women mentioned also set the pace. The others are struggling to keep up.
14:04
Ensign sovereign
On the last climb, Fähndrich gets serious, steps up and blows up the field. Only Karlsson can follow. And in that order, the two also cross the finish line and easily reach the semi-finals. The French Lena Quintin took third place and, like Lea Fischer, who placed fourth, can hope for the time with the Lucky Loosers. Katharina Hennig has no chance and is eliminated in sixth place.
14:00
First Quarterfinals
Let’s go to the quarterfinals! Katharina Hennig is there in the very first heat. Nadine Fähndrich means very strong competition. Lea Fischer is the second Swiss to get involved. And then we have Frida Karlsson. The Swede braces herself in front of the field.
13:55
Diggins and Weng already outside
Of the two Austrians, Lisa Unterweger just made it to the quarter-finals as 30th. On the other hand, Teresa Stadlober has already been eliminated (46th). Surprisingly, Jessie Diggins (40th), who is one of the favorites, also failed. And Heidi Weng was only 53.
1:50 p.m
Fähndrich fastest in the prologue
Fastest of the qualifications was Nadine Fähndrich. The Swiss is always good for a win in the sprints and has already proven that twice this winter alone. For the overall rating of the tour, the woman from Lucerne is not really an issue. With Anja Weber and Lea Fischer we are expecting two more Confederates.
1:40 p.m
German quartet
Nine DSV runners faced the qualification in the morning, four of them stayed with us and will then compete in the quarter-finals. Best in the prologue was Laura Gimmler (8th) – followed immediately by Sofie Krehl (9th). Coletta Rydzek was seventeenth, Katharina Hennig 21st. Pia Fink was unlucky, who in 31st missed the top 30 by 16 hundredths and got stuck in the prologue.
1:30 p.m
favourites
For women, the matter seems quite open without the retired three-time tour winner Therese Johaug. Of course, Norwegians will still be involved – above all the overall World Cup leader Tiril Udnes Weng. The Swedes had a really strong start to the season, but they don’t have Emma Ribom, Ebba Andersson and Johanna Hagstrom at all. So our attention is focused on Frida Karlsson. We also don’t forget Krista Pärmäkoski and Kerttu Niskanen from Finland. And what will Katharina Hennig be able to do, who hopefully recovered from a cold in time?

17 Tour de Ski
We are now experiencing the 17th edition of this extremely demanding stage race. This year, seven competitions have to be mastered in nine days. It all started in the winter of 2006/2007. The record winner is Justyna Kowalczyk, who triumphed four times in a row from 2009/2010. There are still two Tour de Ski winners in the current starting field: Heidi Weng (2017, 2018) and Jessica Diggins (2021). The last winner, Natalya Nepryayeva, is barred from defending her title due to the ban on Russian athletes.
13:10
