Vermeulen misses the final
Austria is not represented in the top 30 either. Mika Vermeulen, just like Teresa Stadlober again as a lone fighter in the ÖSV team, didn’t get along at all in the morning and missed the final by more than seven seconds.

Sprint final without DSV participation
There will be no German World Cup points in the first men’s competition of the season. Only Janosch Brugger started qualifying in the morning, but did not get past 49th place. Lucas Bögl, Albert Kuchler, Friedrich Moch and Florian Notz are concentrating on the distance races. Jonas Dobler dropped out with a cold and didn’t start in Ruka.

No mini tour this time
As usual, the cross-country skiing world cup in the far north of Finland starts with three competitions. In addition to today’s sprint, two distance races will be held in the coming days. This time, however, not as part of the Ruka Triple, i.e. a mini tour, as before, but each race on its own. This allows the athletes to focus on their specialty and only participate in the sprint or the long races. In addition, the individual nations can nominate more staff.
Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to the start of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in Ruka, Finland! It starts today at 12:30 p.m. with the sprint competitions.
