Amundsen on target
Now the strong Norwegian has crossed the finish line and is 25 seconds ahead of Jules Lapierre. Is that enough for the podium?
15:25
Golberg eight seconds behind
After the second lap, Golberg is almost eight seconds behind Amundsen. Is that already a preliminary decision or is Golberg still catching up?
15:21
All started
With the start of dominator Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, all cross-country skiers are now out and about. A good kilometer from the finish, Amundsen pulverized the time in Graz. The Swede William Poromaa sets an example after the first lap and takes over the best time in front of two Norwegians.
15:17
Moch at the start
Now it applies to Friedrich Moch! Albert Kuchler and Janosch Brugger have already crossed the finish line, albeit well behind Graz and Dobler. Candide Pralong also finished and is one place behind Dobler. Amundsen sets further best times and has already completed two laps.
15:11
Pal Golberg started
The man in red – Pål Golberg – has now joined the fight for victory. Meanwhile, his team-mate Amundsen has taken the lead after the first lap and is running at a high pace. Jonas Dobler crossed the finish line five seconds behind Graz, let’s see what his time is good for.
15:09
Graz just before the finish
While the favorites haven’t even started yet, Davide Graz has almost finished his competition. The Italian also set the best time after the second lap and will also be the first to cross the finish line.
15:04
The Norwegians are loose
The race is now picking up speed as Harald Østberg Amundsen is the first Norwegian to start. Norway won all distance races this season, is there an exception today or are the Norwegians extending their winning streak? In the third split, Frenchman Jules Chappaz is now leading.
15:00
Graz leads at the third split
The distances are now clearer. After almost half of the race, Graz is still in the lead, almost ten seconds ahead of the German Dobler. Janosch Brugger is doing well after his first lap and is only just behind the current best time.
14:58
Vermeulen and Furger on the way
Mika Vermeulen and Roman Furger will now be at the start with starting numbers 25 and 26. Lucas Bögl will follow at the same time.
14:56
Graz leads after two kilometers
The Italian Davide Graz leads the classification at the second intermediate time. However, Rüesch is only a good half a second behind.
14:52
First split
Jason Rüesch leads just ahead of Wolter at the first split. However, the best only come with higher starting numbers. Philipp Leodolter is fifth there, just under half a second ahead of Jonas Dobler. Janosch Brugger has now started.
14:47
First Swiss on the way
For Jason Rüesch, who wears starting number four, things are now starting. Among the 70 athletes there are many World Cup debutants such as the American Peter Wolter. Jonas Dobler is also on the road now – for him it’s still about the World Cup norm.
14:45
It starts!
The 23-year-old Frenchman Simon Vuillet is allowed to open his home World Cup. After Corona and lack of snow, it’s the fourth attempt with Les Rousses – but this time it worked! The athletes have to complete three laps, the temperatures are around minus four degrees.
14:43
ÖSV duo
With Philipp Leodolter and Mika Vermeulen, the ÖSV sends a duo to the ten kilometers in free technique. However, neither will have a say in the awarding of the top positions. At the last competition in this discipline, Vermeulen was able to collect a World Cup point as 50th.
14:38
Switzerland with Baumann and Furger
Jason Rüesch, Jonas Baumann, Candide Pralong, Roman Furger, Cyril Fähndrich and Beda Klee are starting for Switzerland. Pralong and Furger just missed a place in the top 30 in Lillehammer – that should work better today.
14:32
What are the Germans achieving?
With starting number seven, Jonas Dobler will be the first to enter the competition for Team Germany. The best German, Friedrich Moch, can hope for a place in the top 15. On a good day, even the top ten can be tackled. Florian Notz with start number 69 is facing a lonely race: Johannes Høsflot Klæbo will probably catch up with him soon and Sjur Røthe is not a bad cross-country skier in front of Notz either. Janosch Brugger, Albert Kuchler and Lucas Bögl complete the German sextet.
14:24
The other favourites
In the overall World Cup, one place behind the Norwegian is his compatriot Pål Golberg, who will also be fighting for victory today. In general, the entire Team Norway is good for top rankings: At the home World Cup in Lillehammer, no fewer than nine Norwegians finished in the top ten in the same discipline – and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo was absent due to illness. The home crowd in Les Rousses will be flirting with one of their French athletes making the top three – and it’s allowed to, as Team France have been in strong form lately.
14:15
Top favorite starts at the end
After the women’s turn at noon, the men’s ten-kilometer freestyle program in Les Rousses is now also on the agenda. Seventy cross-country skiers take part in the race, they start individually. Excitement is inevitable until the end, as one of the top favorites – the Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klæbo – starts last. Klæbo is also the leader in the overall World Cup.
Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to Les Rousses men’s cross-country skiing! The live ticker starts in good time before the start of the race.
