The two German starters continue to do well. Janosch Brugger is fourth, just 25.4 seconds behind Valnes. Albert Kuchler is fifth, 30.4 seconds behind.

All three Swiss are now on the trail. Fähndrich is 15th in the first split and Pralong is 20th.

Frenchman Richard Jouve, still leading at 1.5km, loses to Norway’s Valnes over the next kilometer and is now 2.5 seconds behind.
