Outlook for the quarterfinals
Let’s take a look at the quarterfinal heats. In Heat 1, Sofie Krehl and Laureen van der Graaf have to compete with the favorite, Jonna Sundling. The second run is also tough with Anamarija Lampic, Appelkvist Stenseth and Maja Dahlqvist. Then it’s Laura Gimmler’s and Nadine Fähndrich’s turn, who also have fast competitors in Joensuu (FIN), Laurent (ITA) and Falla (NOR). In race four, Katharina Hennig will meet Johanna Hagström, the fastest in qualifying, and Jessie Diggins. In the final quarter-finals, Coletta Rydzek will face Amundsen (NOR), Dyvik (SWE) and Niskanen (FIN), among others. As usual, the two fastest running athletes and two fastest athletes in time advance to the semi-finals.

That’s how the qualification went
The Swedish dominance in this discipline has also continued in the qualification. Johanna Hagström achieved the fastest time ahead of Jonna Sundling, who has dominated in recent weeks. Surprisingly, the Norwegian Appelkvist Stenseth took third place, directly ahead of Laura Gimmler (GER), who gave a clear sign of life after the last few disappointing weeks. Places five to seven went to Amundsen (NOR), Joensuu (FIN) and Dahlqvist (SWE).
